I heard a rumbling noise coming from outside and rushed to check it out. Startled by the noise and surprised the dogs weren't barking, I went out through the sliding kitchen doors to the backyard. Suddenly there was a tremendous gust of wind that came out of nowhere. I looked up in the night sky and observed what appeared to be a large shadow that covered the light from the moon. There wasn't an immediate indication of what it might be and the wind was swirling more strongly than it does during monsoon season. Then a bright piercing light, that temporarily blinded and disoriented me, came from an opening in the center of the shadow followed by a piercing, pulsating sound like I have never heard before. [SOUND] Everything went black and silent, and I blacked out.
